The Contest is a part of the official celebrations of the centenary of Poland regaining its independence.
The Gallery Roi Doré and the Art-maniac platform are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of the Contest “In the Service of Art and Homeland”, in honour of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. Participants must create and provide a work of art inspired by the life and creative work of Paderewski (1860-1941), a world renowned Polish composer and pianist, statesman, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister in 1919, Polish government delegate at the Peace conference in Paris, which was crowned by the signing of the Treaty of Versailles ending World War I, and delegate of the Polish government to the League of Nations, recipient of the Order of the White Eagle, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour and Knight Grand Cross of the order of the British Empire. The Contest is a part of the events celebrating the centenary of Poland regaining its independence.
All participants should complete and submit the application form and provide high definition photographs (300 dpi / 2000 x 3000 pixels) of their work no later than June 2nd, 2018 (included) to the Organizers. The authors of the works qualified for the final will provide their original work to the Organizers at their own expense and at the latest on June 23rd, 2018. Participants are free to choose the technique, but the dimensions of the work must not exceed 100 x 70 cm (as indicated in the Contest rules). Each participant can submit only one work.
The main prize is an individual exhibition, which the Organizers will present in its exhibition rooms during a time agreed upon with the winner. The finalists’ works will be presented in a group exhibition, which opening will take place at the Gallery Roi Doré on June 28th, 2018, on the day of the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which Ignacy Jan Paderewski signed on behalf of Poland. The exhibition of the finalists’ works is also planned at the Museum of Archdiocese of Warsaw in autumn 2018, as a part of the celebrations of centenary of Poland’s return to independence (in this case, the Organizers will take care of all logistics concerning the exhibition in Warsaw).
